Inspiration Behind it all
Since joining IBEW Local 3 back in 2012 and going through my apprenticeship, I've been inspired by the art of bending conduit. Bending clean, precise lines into metal conduit isn’t just practical – it’s a craft that many of us hold dear. But as time went on, I noticed how traditional conduit work was being replaced by flexible armored cable, which, let’s face it, lacks the pride and precision that conduit bending offers.
A TOOL MADE TO PRESERVE OUR CRAFT
I wanted to create a tool that helps electricians like you and me keep the pride in our work while keeping up with today’s demands.
So, I built a digital level that calculates and displays bend angles, helping you hit precise measurements without second-guessing. What separates it from other protractors is an LED strip gauge to illustrate the progress of your bend at any angle, taking out the guesswork and cutting down on waste.
THE JOURNEY - LEARNING, EXPERIMENTING, AND BUILDING
This level didn’t come easy. I started this project knowing only a little about electronics, programming and machining, but over the last 7 years, I learned everything I needed to bring this idea to life.
I worked through countless prototypes, worked on programming almost every train ride on New York's Metro North train, invested in equipment, and took the time to get it just right
Now, after years of trial and persistence, I’m proud to be building these tools myself — each one a small reminder that good ideas can come from anyone willing to put in the work. And yes, I still work in the field every day — using the very same tools I build.
